Tyco is introducing the fire alarm industry’s first addressable notification appliances with individual on / off audio control – a new innovation in notification technology that promises to enhance protection, reduce costs and simplify building operations.

The new line of intelligent SIMPLEX TrueAlert ES audio speakers takes notification to another level of capability, safety and value for architects and engineers, installing contractors, building owners and facility managers. TrueAlert ES speakers are specially designed to provide high quality audio output, improved aesthetics, and targeted emergency message delivery. At the same time, the speakers offer all the other benefits of the SIMPLEX TrueAlert ES family of fully addressable notification appliances, including easier, more flexible system design, cost-effective installation, and revolutionary device self-testing.

Here’s a brief overview of the key features and benefits of SIMPLEX TrueAlert ES addressable speakers:

• Targeted Audio Messaging for Enhanced Emergency Response: Addressable TrueAlert ES speakers have the capability to deliver audio messages to specifically targeted areas within a building. Each audio unit has its own address on the fire alarm system and is supervised by a SIMPLEX ES fire alarm panel. This means the fire alarm panel can be programmed to select which speakers are to be used and what message will be played on them during emergencies. This targeted audio paging capability enables the delivery of critical, event specific information where it’s needed. For example, in the case of a small isolated event, an individual speaker can be activated to deliver a message in that specific area. In broader emergency situations, groups of speakers can be used to deliver critical evacuation instructions for specific parts of the building based on the nature of the emergency. With SIMPLEX TrueAlert ES Addressable Speakers, audio messages are directed by programming, not wire runs, opening up a new world of flexibility, configurability and performance for audio fire alarm systems.
• Appliance Self-Testing: Like the entire SIMPLEX TrueAlert ES family of addressable notification devices, the new speakers provide revolutionary appliance self-testing capability as well as advanced programming and reporting features. The self-test process takes just seconds to complete, and can be initiated manually or programmed via the fire alarm control panel to run automatically at a convenient time. Self-testing can reduce business disruption and provide significant time and cost savings, particularly in large buildings where notification appliance testing can be difficult.
• Flexible Design, Cost-Efficient Installation & Improved Aesthetics: The wiring architecture of SIMPLEX TrueAlert ES speakers is extremely flexible, which can mean easier, more efficient design and faster, more cost-effective installation. The addressable speaker technology is also highly scalable, so it’s easy to adjust and expand the notification system as buildings change and life-safety needs evolve. The new devices also feature a streamlined look that blends well with the building or facility decor.
• Improved Audibility and Intelligibility: TrueAlert ES speakers provide a high-quality audio output that improves audibility and intelligibility of messages and enables dual-purpose functionality. In an emergency, the speakers operate as part of a building’s fire alarm system, so they can help notify building occupants about what to do through pre-recorded messages, tones, or live messaging. In addition, the quality of the sound can enable the speakers to be used for standard daily functions like non-emergency paging and background music.

SIMPLEX TrueAlert ES speakers are available in red, white and black, and wall or ceiling mounted audio only and audio visual models.
